Project Overview: “Titiksha – The Endurance of Suffering”
Arati Kushwaha, as the facilitator of this programme, initiated the “Titiksha – The Endurance of Suffering” project, designed to bring people together through the integration of performing art and screen printing. The central aim of this project is to demonstrate to a new generation that the challenges and experiences of the past remain relevant today, highlighting the ongoing connections between history and contemporary life.
Utilising art to Address Discrimination
Through both performance and textile work, the project seeks to confront discrimination by drawing upon shared cultural elements that unite both ancestors and current generations. By doing so, it encourages reflection on, and a challenge to, long-standing ideas and prejudices.
Innovative Creative Processes
The inclusion of screen printing within performing arts revealed new visual possibilities and expanded the project’s artistic vocabulary. Collaboration was a key focus, with artists and dancers intertwining their unique styles to co-create a performance art piece.
Collaborative Development
The creative process was shaped by the joint development of visual imagery and movement, as the artist and choreographer exchanged ideas rooted in the participants’ own experiences. This approach fostered a dynamic and inclusive environment for artistic exploration.
